The Printing press was invented in the 1440's, by an inventor named Johannes Gutenberg. Johannes Gutenberg was born in the year 1395 In Mainz Germany. Movable type was invented by Johann, but developed a casting system and metal alloys which made production earlier on in the years easier. In the 1450 Johann was operating a print shop. Johann's journey had a little bumps in the road. One of them was he became in debt in 1452. To help a little Johann developed the "Forty-Two- line" Bible known as the Glutenberg Bible. One other invention was the Psalter(The book of psalms). In 1442 Johann invented the telegraph. This man did a lot in his life, but that main thing i'm going to talk about is the printing press. |
Inside the printing pressThe printing functions based on a screw that presses partnered ink movable type heads which allowed papers to be quickly and efficiently pressed with letters. The type head which helped function the printing press was made by pouring led tin alloy into a hand mold, and were affixed to the movable rectangular stalks. These stalks. These rectangular stalks can be arranged to make sentences and words. The screw press then clamps a paper sheet on top of the top heads, pressing their ink on the sheet. Everything before this invention was hand written. This is why we have computers now.

Gutenberg Bible In his years of making the making of the printing press, Johann Gutenberg made the 42nd bible. Which the real name of this bible is The GutenBerg Bible. This book was the first printed book in the west. This book was written in Latin. I think it's amazing that a simple invention can print out anything you want. Instead of writing the Gutenberg Bible he printed it. The Bible has 1,272 pages, and has only 150 copies, but only 49 exist. With the Gutenberg printing press it took 3-5 years to make the Gutenberg Bible. On each page of this bible, there is approxamily 300 words. We all have to give it up to the Printing Press, because it has encouraged us to make computers today.

How Printing press effects our world todayWe all write certain things, and say our hands hurt. When Glutenberg developed the Printing press he wanted to make writing easier. Out society right now wouldn't have the ability to type anything you want on the computer without a printing press. The fact that we could type over a million words on a screen is amazing, and helps us in many different ways. The Gutenberg printing press helped us because now we can type all our papers, print books we want, send anything through email. Just with the simple ability of one man, it has changed the world in many different ways. The printing press is pretty much the first generation of our technology.
